2025-06-15T07:44:48.225 All Tropical Cyclone Signals were cancelled at 3:40 p.m. on 15 June

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. All signals were cancelled at 3:40 p.m. At 3 p.m., Tropical Depression Wutip was centred about 380 kilometres north of Hong Kong (near 25.7 degrees north 114.3 degrees east) and is forecast to move northeast or east-northeast at about 38 kilometres per hour across Jiangxi, weakening further. Local winds will still be occasionally strong for the rest of today, reaching gale force on high ground. The Observatory will issue the Strong Monsoon Signal. Seas will still be rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. The southwesterly airstream is expected to become active in the next couple of days. There will be occasional heavy showers over the coast of Guangdong on Monday and Tuesday. Members of the public should stay on the alert.

2025-06-14T23:48:53.889 Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 was updated at 7:45 a.m. on 15 June

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force. This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected. Tropical Storm Wutip has weakened into a tropical depression. At 8 a.m., Wutip was estimated to be about 290 kilometres north-northwest of Hong Kong (near 24.5 degrees north 112.6 degrees east) and is forecast to move northeast at about 38 kilometres per hour crossing inland Guangdong. Wutip continues to weaken this morning, but its associated strong winds are still affecting the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary. Locally, strong winds are prevailing over many places, occasionally reaching gale force on high ground. The outer rainbands of Wutip are also bringing squally showers to the coast of Guangdong. Wutip is expected to continue to move northeastwards crossing inland Guangdong this morning, maintaining a distance of about 300 kilometres from Hong Kong. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 will remain in force at least until noon today. With the gradual departure and weakening of Wutip, local winds in Hong Kong will moderate progressively this afternoon. Depending on the change in local wind condition and the extent of weakening of Wutip, the Observatory will consider issuing the Standby Signal, No. 1, or replacing the tropical cyclone warning signal by the Strong Monsoon Signal. Although Wutip dissipates on Monday and Tuesday, an active southwesterly airstream will bring heavy showers to the coast of Guangdong. Members of the public should stay on the alert. Seas are rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Ngong Ping, Green Island and Cheung Chau were 78, 56 and 48 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts exceeding 99, 68 and 60 kilometres per hour respectively.

2025-06-14T08:48:16.172 Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 was updated at 4:45 p.m. on 14 June

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force. This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected. Severe Tropical Storm Wutip has weakened into a tropical storm. At 5 p.m., Wutip was estimated to be about 420 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 21.5 degrees north 110.2 degrees east) and is forecast to move northeast at about 28 kilometres per hour across the vicinity of the boundary of Guangdong-Guangxi. Wutip weakened in the past few hours, but its associated strong winds also affected the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary gradually as Wutip moved northeastwards. Locally, strong winds are prevailing over many places, occasionally reaching gale force on high ground in the western part of the territory. The outer rainbands of Wutip are also bringing squally showers to the coast of Guangdong. Wutip is expected to skirt around 300 kilometres to the northwest of Hong Kong tomorrow morning. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 will remain in force at least until noon tomorrow. Unless Wutip maintains a higher intensity over inland areas of Guangdong and adopts a track closer to the Pearl River Estuary, the chance of issuing the Signal No. 8 is rather low. According to the present forecast, with Wutip moving away from Hong Kong and weakening gradually, local winds will moderate progressively tomorrow afternoon. Although Wutip will dissipate gradually on Monday and Tuesday, an active southwesterly airstream will bring heavy showers to the coast of Guangdong. Members of the public should stay on the alert. Seas are rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Ngong Ping, Green Island and Waglan Island were 66, 58 and 51 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts exceeding 107, 81 and 61 kilometres per hour respectively.

Winds will occasionally reach up to gale force offshore and on high ground. Wutip will skirt around 300 kilometres to the northwest of Hong Kong tomorrow morning. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 will remain in force at least until noon tomorrow. Unless Wutip maintains a higher intensity over inland areas and adopts a track closer to the Pearl River Estuary, the chance of issuing the Signal No. 8 is rather low. Although Wutip will depart and dissipate on Monday and Tuesday, an active southwesterly airstream will bring heavy showers to the coast of Guangdong. Members of the public should stay on the alert. Seas are rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. 2025-06-14T03:47:41.331 Standby Signal, No.1 was updated at 11:45 a.m. on 14 June

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force. This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us. At noon, Severe Tropical Storm Wutip was estimated to be about 510 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.7 degrees north 109.6 degrees east) and is forecast to move northeast at about 22 kilometres per hour edging closer to Leizhou Peninsula. In the past few hours, Wutip adopted a northeast track crossing the Beibu Wan. Its outer circulation brought squally showers to the coast of Guangdong. Wutip will make landfall over Leizhou Peninsula shortly, and then move across the vicinity of the boundary of Guangdong-Guangxi. The strong winds associated with Wutip are expected to gradually prevail over the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary. Winds will strengthen progressively over the territory, and up to gale force on high ground later. The Observatory will issue the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 at 12:20 p.m. With Wutip moving further inland and weakening, local winds will moderate progressively later tomorrow. Although Wutip will depart and dissipate on Monday and Tuesday, an active southwesterly airstream will bring heavy showers to the coast of Guangdong. Members of the public should stay on the alert. There are swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports.

2025-06-13T22:47:40.929 Standby Signal, No.1 was updated at 6:45 a.m. on 14 June

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force. This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us. At 7 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Wutip was estimated to be about 600 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.0 degrees north 108.9 degrees east) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 18 kilometres per hour moving across Beibu Wan and towards Leizhou Peninsula. Wutip is moving across Beibu Wan. Its outer circulation is bringing squally showers to the coast of Guangdong. Wutip is expected to maintain a distance of about 500 kilometres from Hong Kong this morning. The Standby Signal, No. 1 will remain in force at least until noon today. According to the present forecast track, Wutip will make landfall again near Leizhou Peninsula during the day today and then move across the vicinity of the Guangdong-Guangxi boundary. The associated strong winds may have a chance to begin affecting the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary gradually later today. There will also be squally showers over the region. Depending on Wutip’s intensity, its distance from Hong Kong and the change in local wind strength, the Observatory will assess the need for issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 this afternoon.
